This was originally an early 1800s cotton plantation owned by Thomas Jefferson Johnson, but the property was purchased by Howard Melville Hanna after the Civil War. All of the buildings currently standing were built after 1900. The property exists today as an example of a 20th century shooting house. Visitors can tour the grounds and the main house.

Lapham-Patterson House Historic Site is a Victorian-era home complete with oriental-style porch decorations, fishscale shingles and a double-flue chimney. The site is open Tuesday through Sunday, except during legal holidays.
