The Okenfenokee National Wildlife Refuge is one of the largest bogs or swamps in the world encompassing more than 700 square miles with more than 400,000 acres of canals. Not just a 'swamp' this territory is an important habitat for many animals such as alligator, deer, black bear, many species of waterfowl and otter to name
but a few.
There is a Visitor Center located at the Folkston access to Okefenokee which is approximately 20 miles east of Kingsland. Recreational opportunities abound in Okefenokee and special events are frequently held at the Visitor Center. Address: . Folkston, GA 31537
